Maintain Lifting Equipments
Why must crane maintenance be required?
Overhead cranes are one of the most popular types of lifting equipment on the market today and are considered the equipment that requires the least regular maintenance among products of the same type such as forklifts, self-propelled bridges, lifting tables, and platforms. lifting..etc That doesn't mean it doesn't need to be maintained. With many years of experience manufacturing cranes and providing crane maintenance and repair services to many, many customers nationwide, we would like to offer some opinions showing that bridge cranes need to be maintained are:
Ensure labor safety for users and people around. Yes, this is always the most important cause because it affects the property and lives of people (here it could be workers at work, visitors to the factory or even the business owners themselves). Karma). Why? Because if not maintained, the crane can short circuit or burn at any time, and the lifted object (lifted load) can fall as soon as you lift it to the highest point. Imagine what will happen?. Especially with cranes that have been in operation for 5-10 years or more, the product is no longer original, many safety mechanisms are not working or not working properly, and special attention needs to be paid to protection. nourishment.
Enhance product lifespan: Cranes are like all other types of electrically operated (or manual) equipment. If maintained properly and regularly, the product's lifespan will be very long. On the contrary, they are also easily damaged and cause trouble for users. Our grandparents' saying "what lasts depends on the person" is always true, right?
Prevent equipment problems that cause production lines to stall. You already know why. The crane is a link in the production chain. When it "sneezes and has a runny nose", the other parts can only sit and play. The damage is difficult to measure.
When does a crane need maintenance?
The crane maintenance work we are talking about here is the activity of checking and taking care of the crane's health after the product warranty expires (usually 1 year). If it is within the 1 year warranty period, you can just contact the crane supplier so they can come check it out. After 1 year of warranty, we need to consider finding a unit that specializes in crane maintenance for us. However, if your crane is still working well, there is no need to rush as it is still working well. The time the crane begins to have minor or major problems depends on the type of equipment you choose in the beginning. Having said that, you will know when you need to hire maintenance (or do it yourself if you have enough tools and technical knowledge).
Basic crane maintenance procedures
Here we would like to say it first, just the basics. Through this content, you will be able to learn for yourself the basic steps of crane maintenance and can check and monitor whether the supplier is doing it correctly or not. For more information, you can contact us and we will get a detailed answer.
Step 1: Overall check the crane
First, we need to check the overall crane with the naked eye, visually to see if all parts of the crane are still structurally intact, and if there are any strange phenomena in the electrical equipment. For people in the profession, it will be very easy to evaluate each crane part in just 10-15 minutes. However, as a user, you may not understand all the parts of the crane. It's okay, you just check one by one as follows: Overall look to see if there are any problems with the main beam structure of the crane, such as: Is the beam deflection too large, are there any potential cracks or fractures? Are the rail support beams and crane moving rails deformed anywhere?
Look at the overall hoist (electric cable hoist or chain hoist) to see if any parts are damaged, especially the rolling drum structure and moving wheel assembly.
See if the moving edge beams are parallel to each other, are the wheels twisted, are they cut into the moving rails? Are the wheel edges worn or worn?
Are all electrical equipment such as electrical cabinets, connecting wires, and motors mechanically damaged? Is there any exposed area in the power cord?
After checking the overall condition and ensuring that all details are normal or "slightly abnormal", we can check each cluster mentioned above in detail.
Step 2: Check each crane part in detail:
Crane main beam: Need to carefully examine the plate welds to see if they are broken or cracked anywhere? Usually, this part has few problems if the manufacturer fully meets the product quality control process when manufacturing from the beginning.
As long as the rail support beams and crane moving rails are not dented or deformed, there will be no problems. Look a little more closely at the rail support beam joints to see if cracking has occurred.
Crane hoist: It is necessary to check parts such as the roll drum, lifting motor, motor that moves the hoist, and the wear and tear of the wheels. It is necessary to remove natural wear parts such as brake pads and suction coils to inspect and evaluate the level of wear and predict when they will need to be replaced. In addition, the components in the hoist electrical cabinet need to be carefully checked, especially the connection points, functions of protective relays, switching relays...etc. Gearbox grease also needs to be checked carefully (only for cranes that have been in operation for 2 years or more).
Electrical equipment for hoists and cranes: Pay attention to evaluate the wear of the safety guide rail system and contact brushes, these are natural wear and tear parts. Other parts can be checked with the naked eye, with hands, feet, etc. (Remember to only check after turning off the power to the entire crane).
Step 3: Assess the current status of the crane and maintenance plan:
In the above step, I did not remind you to take notes and take pictures of abnormal phenomena of the crane so that you can consult experts to see if the equipment should be replaced or repaired. In general and in detail, you have already "examined" your crane. So let Trung Nguyen take care of the medical treatment and care for the crane!
